Robin Greenstein- http://www.robingreenstein.com/

Robin is a singer-songwriter from NYC whose music is a mix of folk, pop, rock, blues, country and jazz. She calls her music "Acousticness." Imagine a female James Taylor; strong finger-picking, soulful, rootsy songs with sophisticated pop influences. Stong soulful singing and memorable original songs make a lasting impact on her audiences. Her songs have been recorded on Fast Folk and Atlantic Records. She was picked for a finalist spot at the prestigious Kerrville Folk Festival Songwriting competition (1989) in Texas on her very first application. Robin was also signed to Bob Dylan's publishing company as a writer for two years. She has performed in over 43 states and several countries including China, Japan, Mexico, Germany, Switzerland, Holland and Denmark.

Robin has won music competitions at the Riverbank/Walden Radio Folk Festival and the NJ Folk Festival, and showcased at both the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, the NJ Folk Festival, The Napa Folk Festival and Northeast Regional Folk Alliance Conference. But her favorite gig of recent years was singing the national anthem at Madison Square Garden in NYC for her beloved New York Knicks!

Robin plays both guitar and banjo. Her superb musicianship, powerful songs, strong singing and relaxed performing style win over audiences everywhere. Describing her music as "Acousticness", Robin mixes many styles of music - folk, pop, rock, jazz and blues- in an acoustic base. In a show, you might hear a jazz standard, a blues song, or a instrumental banjo dance tune scattered among her original compositions. Her music has the musical sophistication of James Taylor with the lyrical sensitivity of Joni Mitchell, and strong vocals like Linda Ronstadt or blues-influenced like Bonnie Raitt.

Susan Sheridan http://www.suzannesheridanmusic.com/

A musical journey that began in 2009 with the pairing of Suzanne Sheridan’s musical talents and love for the music of Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen has gathered both a local and international audience. Wherever and whenever Suzanne and her world-class band have performed this music, the audiences have packed theconcert halls and clubs and theatres and even the smaller coffee houses.

Pairing Joni and Leonard was not a big stretch – they are both Canadians, they are both musical poets, they are both iconic musical landmarks, and they even had a brief love affair that spawned some of their greatest songs. To hear their music together, in concert, is a treasured opportunity to understand how great their music really is. Following her firstJoni/Leonard concert in 2009, Suzanne has since performed this concert in venues ranging from small coffee houses to large theatres. Notably, Suzanne has performed this concert twice at The Piggery Theatre in North Hatley, Quebec.

Feral Matt Foster- http://www.feralfoster.com/

-Village Voice Best of 2014 - "Best Folk Artist"
-NY Sun Times - "10 artists you should already be listening to"

Feral Foster has been gigging in New York, across the country and in Europe for the past 10 years, capturing the imagination and attention of listeners with his impassioned singing and powerful songwriting. Foster draws from the deep wellspring of early blues, country, and jazz to tell contemporary, human stories, making for music that feels wellworn and strikingly fresh at the same time. He has become wellknown in the roots music scene for establishing, curating, and performing at Jalopy’s weekly Wednesday “Roots n’ Ruckus” review, which has become a premiere showcase for new and established talent. His new, eponymous record of all original material recruits a host of talented musicians, including Jay Sanford (Jessy Carolina & The Hot Mess), Ernie Vega, and Wyndham Baird. Following on his successful Kickstarter campaign in support of the record, Foster is now touring the east coast, with a more extensive tour planned for the fall.

Fred Thomas tears into a mix of JB hits, plus blues & soul classics as vocalist and bassist for his Fred Thomas Band.

He can be heard on such hits as “Hot Pants,” “Papa Don’t Take No Mess,” “Make it Funky,” "Get on the Good Foot," "Doin' it to Death," and instrumentals like “Pass the Peas”, “Gimme Some More” and others.

Scott Barkan- http://www.scottbarkanmusic.com/

Scott Barkan is an Indie/Folk/Blues/Roots/Jazz/Avant Garde guitarist, singer and songwriter based in New York's Hudson Valley.

After years of working as an in demand sideman for various songwriters and bands around the country, having his guitar playing and songwriting featured on national television (The Real World, The Hills,Keeping up with the Kardashians, etc.), as well as leading numerous guitar oriented instrumental projects, Scott has recently struck out as an acoustic based solo artist.

The new project, which finds Scott's signature shimmering guitar tones and skronky, avant/country improvisations serving as the backdrop for his witty, self-effacing and often heartbreaking lyric writing, is without-a-doubt Barkan's most personal project to date.

The tunes themselves run the gamut from ethereal ballads to swampy grooves to blistering bluegrass numbers, but Barkan's powerful voice and somber, humorous songwriting always remain front and center, the thread that strings all these elements together.

Since returning to New York in 2009, Scott has been hitting the acoustic music scene hard, garnering comparisons to folk scene mainstays like Greg Brown and Kelly Joe Phelps, as well as guitar wizards John Scofield and Bill Frisell, at performances all over the region.

The Kennedys- http://www.kennedysmusic.com/

In a career that now spans two decades, New York duo Pete and Maura Kennedy have traversed a broad musical landscape, surveying power pop, acoustic songwriting, organic rock rooted in their early days in Austin, and a Byrds-inspired jangle that drew the attention of Roger McGuinn, Steve Earle, and most notably Nanci Griffith. The duo co-produced Nanci's latest CD. On their own recent release, "Closer Than You Know," the songs have a quality, inherent in Maura’s voice, that is both soothing and urgent. As writers and producers, the Kennedys continue to mature, from their early style-conscious pop to today’s burnished sheen. Always tuned to their own muse, Pete and Maura have once again come up with a unique sound that is as uplifting as it is unclassifiable.

THE KENNEDYS RETURN WITH NEW CD
"Closer Than You Know" is the duo's twelfth album.

“Byrdsy jangle, boy-girl harmonies…irresistible” -Rolling Stone

“Unabashed, hook-laden pop” -Village Voice

“More hooks than Marilyn Monroe’s closet” -Chicago Sun-Times

M Shanghai-http://www.mshanghaistringband.com/

M SHANGHAI is a Brooklyn based folk collective, named after the Asian bistro in Williamsburg that hosted the band's monthly residency from 2002 through 2009.  M Shanghai's legendary concerts are known for their unbridled joy, raucous energy and intimate subtlety, with all players crowded around one condenser mic "like the faithful taking communion, or sharks smelling blood in the water".

With an adventurous take on Americana, the “M” are not easily classified; they emphasize distinctive songwriting while retaining the immediacy of classic American roots music: "timeless Americana with an indie-rock soul".

M Shanghai's song "Bedlam" was recently featured as theme song for "Escaping Polygamy", a new television series on LMN network. Their forthcoming album "Bedlam" is slated for release in spring of 2015.

The "M" continue to play the first Saturday of every month at their home base:
The Jalopy Theater  in Red Hook, Brooklyn.

Here's what others have to say about M Shanghai:

"One of the year's best…there isn't a bad song on it."
NY Music Daily (Review of "Two Thousand Pennies" album)

"First-rate original songs… highly entertaining, like a modern day medicine show."
Tommy Ramone, of the Ramones and Uncle Monk

"The best acts are locals M Shanghai, which usually play monthly, proving that New York, nay, Brooklyn is as country as Tennessee."
Village Voice Best of 2011 (Jalopy and M Shanghai)

"When people think Williamsburg, they think indie rock...how many of you had ever seen a banjo before?"
John Schaefer, WNYC Soundcheck

"Vigorous, heartfelt acoustic country with all the fixins!"
Time Out New York
